Channels Estate Wedding Chelmsford.
A stunning Spring day at the Channels Estate wedding Chelmsford.
We’d met Charlotte & Bob at the Excel wedding fayre in the previous Autumn and they’d booked us not long afterwards having come over for an enquiry meeting at the Royal Festival Hall.
We’d talked through their plans for their photography and they liked our style and approach which was a good fit for what they were looking for.
Being not far from Chelmsford they were looking for a venue that offered a barn with unique style and a large church nearby for their ceremony.
They settled on Channels Estate Chelmsford in Essex.
I’d not shot at Channels Estate before and went over for a recce prior to meeting the couple for their pre wedding meeting – something we’ll always do if we havn’t worked at a venue so that we can run through ideas in the couple’s meeting.
The day started beautifully and we arrived at Channels Estate 2 hours prior to our start to run through with the team our shot plan as well as meet the other suppliers and venue managers.
Occasionally I’m a little nervous if I havn’t worked at a venue before as you’re not sure what the venue is like to shoot in different conditions – rain, low light, super bright sun but we soon found Channels was a beautiful venue to shoot.
It had an abundance of shoot options and had an abundance of character being a barn and also lots of quirks in and around the grounds which made getting our shot list a lot of fun!
I’d not shot at Channels estate before and was really looking forward to it…. partly I have to say because of the beautiful sunny day but also the range of wedding photography you can get throughout the venue and grounds.
It’s stunning and I’m looking forward to shooting there this year with two weddings booked there for this year so far.
The couple had their church ceremony at a lovely church not far from Channels and so Charlotte got ready at the Channels Estate Lodge and Bob got ready at his parents. Charlotte got ready with close family in the morning and for her dress she chose a stunning Dianne Legrand dress purchased at Nell’Amore.
Shooting at Channels Estate Lodge was really nice as it;’s great to be near the venue.
It meant we were able to get detail shots of the venue prior to getting photography of Charlotte & her bridesmaids and family.
After Charlotte’s preps we got some lovely natural photography of Bob getting ready with his family and then headed to the church.

After their very emotional and gorgeous ceremony the bridal party headed over to the cricket field next to the church for some friends photos which was a really nice touch.
After that everyone headed to Channels Estate for the reception.
Charlotte & Bob are both a relaxed couple and we’d felt our natural, relaxed style would work really well for their group photography and so we spent 20 minutes getting some really informal family shots. Finishing with the big group everyone went in for the next main event of the day – the wedding breakfast. Channels Estate provided the amazing food and we can’t reccomend them highly enough! Thank you for looking after us!
the runnig theme of the day was emotion I think it’s fair to say! From the ceremony to the speeches it was a true wedding full of emotion which is always lovely to witness!
Unsurpsingly there were a few tears and a lot of funny jokes in the speeches… theres always a great crowd in Essex! And they prived it on the dance floor! After the cake had been cut everyone was on and the night got started in true fashion.
A really lovely wedding at Channels Estate Wedding Chelmsford.
